At the January, 2013 Small Business Networking Event I was encouraged to be a WordPress consultant. From when I discovered WordPress, in 2009, it has evolved into a very powerful blogging and content management system (CMS). Back then a few start-up companies experimented with using WordPress and other blogging applications for their sites. The results were not professional looking. Continue reading

While reading my Toronto Entertainment by Spyc1 newsletter, I came across an article that talked about How to Use iPhone as a Webcam on Your PC or Mac Wirelessly. Naturally it got my attention. As usual, Apple only wants to support Windows and Mac. There is no support for Linux. Continue reading

Recently I had a disagreement with Codelesson regarding their credit card payment pages being insecure (not encrypted). As far they are concerned their shopping cart page (http://codelesson.com/cart/checkout) and payment processing page (http://codelesson.com/cart/process_payment) does not require encryption as their payment processing company, Stripe, representative told them it was not required. Back in 2011 I bought an ASUS TF101 transformer tablet mainly to check my email while working locations or on set. I also bought a Rogers MiFi wireless hotspot for portable internet access. I needed to do this because both my background agents and my locations boss uses email to let me know when and where I need to be. At the time I was still using a dumb cell phone. Continue reading

The first time I heard about Linux was around the summer of ’94. A co-worker named Kenidid was taking a computer programming course and was given the opportunity to work on it as a class project. I had bought my first computer the previous Christmas. It came with DOS 6.2 and Windows 3.1. Continue reading

This my second post to this blog. I have used Google’s Blogger (philipramsey.blogspot.com). It has a very neat feature that allows bloggers on that platform to display the first paragraph of each post on the front page with a link to the rest of the article instead of displaying the entire articles on the front page. I plan to do the same thing with WordPress.

Recently I was asked to help someone with editing the appearance of their WordPress blog. The person wanted to change the font size, style and type of specific elements. Since I worked on my sister’s WordPress blog I have a rough idea of how to do what this person wanted and how to do it.
